CPT 00102 | Anesthesia For Procedures Involving Plastic Repair Of Cleft Lip
CPT code 00102 can be reported when an anesthesia provider performs an anesthesia service during a plastic cleft lip procedure.
Description
The official description of the 00102 CPT code is: “Anesthesia for procedures involving plastic repair of cleft lip.”
The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) assigned six base units to CPT 00102.
Do not use CPT code 00102 for procedures performed on the lip for conditions other than cleft lip repair. For other non-cleft lip repairs, see CPT code 00300. For cleft palate repairs, see CPT 00172.
Procedure
An anesthesia provider performs a pre-operative evaluation of the patient. Then, the anesthesia provider induces the patient and monitors the patient during a plastic repair of a cleft lip that a different provider performs.
The anesthesia provider notes any types and amounts of medications administered, all forms of monitoring used, patient responses, and the start and stops times of anesthesia care.
